Overview: Golfresort Haugschlag ~ Waldviertel is an 18-hole forest and granite parkland in northern Austria’s Waldviertel. Designed by Austrogolf, Forest, granite, ponds, and open Waldviertel ground give the resort course a regional texture that is immediately visible during a round. The Waldviertel course stretches to about 6,850 yards and plays to par 72, a substantial length within the forest and granite setting. Granite and woodland provide more than scenery: they frame landing areas and give the Waldviertel course a texture that is difficult to mistake for a lowland resort layout.
History: The resort grew from a club founded in 1987 into a multi-course destination. The Waldviertel routing has hosted the Austrian Open three times and is defined by forest, open ground, ponds, and granite. Haugschlag’s course history is linked to the resort’s growth and its Austrian Open appearances. Those events confirm that the Waldviertel routing is more than a leisure course within a hotel complex.
Did You Know? Local Waldviertel granite is part of the visual vocabulary, giving the layout a regional character different from softer parkland near Vienna. Waldviertel granite gives Haugschlag a local visual signature that is easy to distinguish from flatter Vienna-area parkland.
