Overview: Golfparc Sandur is a 9-hole public parkland course in Emmen, Netherlands, designed by Frank Pont and opened in 2005. It plays to a par of 68 with a length of 4,830 meters (5,282 yards) from the yellow tees. The routing incorporates water, forest, and heathland features, with glacial erratic boulders marking the landscape. The course includes a driving range with covered and open bays, a putting green, and practice bunkers.
History: The course was built in 2005 on a former forest and agricultural area south of Emmen, designed by golf architect Frank Pont (known for work at Koninklijke Haagsche, De Pan, and Kennemer). Originally operated as BurgGolf Emmen, the facility is now a member-run club that emphasizes a low-threshold, volunteer-driven community. Glacial boulders scattered across the course serve as remnants of the ice ages that shaped the region.
Did You Know? The course is entirely smoke-free as of January 1, 2025. The facility offers a 9-hole layout with two par-5 holes, and the driving range features lighting for winter practice. The club runs weekly competitions including men’s and ladies’ mornings and evenings, and a mixed-gender tournament year-round.
