Overview: Golfe Clube Aretê Búzios is the current identity of the 18-hole course in Armação dos Búzios, Rio de Janeiro state. The operator lists about 7,000 yards and describes a routing shaped by the town’s natural topography, with 14 artificial lakes and sand bunkers. Pete Dye and Perry Dye are credited as the designers in the current club material. The setting is intended to keep the course visually connected to Búzios, while the surrounding golf complex adds practice, teaching and clubhouse facilities.
History: The course began as the Búzios Golf Club and Resort project and is now presented as the Golfe Clube Aretê Búzios. Dan Blankenship’s account says work started under Dye Designs in 1989, stopped during Brazil’s early-1990s economic crisis, resumed in 1994 and reached inauguration in 1996. A separate Aretê technical sheet lists 1993, while the golf federation records a 1996 foundation date. Because those milestones are not fully reconciled, no opening year is promoted in the structured field.
Did You Know? The course’s technical profile includes an island green, five teeing options and water or channels entering play on many holes. The current Aretê pages also describe a 27-hole putting green and a separate minigolf area beside the main course. Those details point to a facility built around varied practice as well as the full routing, with the water features providing the most recognisable visual thread.
