Overview: Golfclub Zell am See-Kaprun Saalbach ~ Kitzsteinhorn is an 18-hole Pinzgau parkland with the Hohe Tauern and Kitzsteinhorn as backdrop. Designed by Hermann Schauer, Schauer’s course uses Pinzgau meadows, water, and mountain horizons to create an open parkland round distinct from the complex’s older layout. The Kitzsteinhorn routing is par 73 and about 6,720 yards, with the open Pinzgau landscape giving it room to display its mountain setting. Open Pinzgau fairways allow the mountains to dominate the horizon, while the water and green complexes keep the round focused on the next shot.
History: The Zell am See complex developed in stages: Harradine’s first 18 holes in 1983, expansion to 27 holes in 1988, and completion of the Kitzsteinhorn routing under Hermann Schauer in 1993. The complex now has 36 holes. Zell am See’s staged expansion is central to the name Kitzsteinhorn. The ranked course dates from 1993, while the wider facility and its Harradine history began a decade earlier.
Did You Know? Kitzsteinhorn is one named 18-hole routing within a 36-hole facility. Its name comes from the nearby mountain and distinguishes it from the older Harradine course. Kitzsteinhorn is one of two full 18-hole courses at Zell am See, and its name refers to the nearby mountain rather than the older Harradine layout.
