Overview: Wendelinus Golfpark St. Wendel is a 27-hole resort built across a large, hilly former military landscape. The A, B and C loops can be combined into three different 18-hole courses, with the A and C combination moving between mature woodland, open slopes, old biotopes and long views over Saarland. The terrain is a major part of the experience: holes rise and fall, change direction and reveal new angles from one tee to the next.
History: The French military left the St. Wendel site in 1999. In 2000, Bernd Hofmann and golf professional Wolfgang Jersombeck were commissioned to plan a 27-hole course on the 150-hectare property. Course A entered play in September 2004, and the full 27-hole installation was completed in 2006. Today the A and C loops form an 18-hole combination with par 72 and a yellow-tee length of 6,243 metres.
Did You Know? The course is named for St. Wendelinus, a sixth-century holy man associated with the town. Local tradition also connects him with Scotland, an unexpected historical echo for a resort whose golf is organised around three distinct loops.
