Overview: Schloss Myllendonk is a quietly distinctive parkland course around a medieval moated castle near Mönchengladbach. The flat Lower Rhine landscape is crossed by drainage ditches, canals and natural ponds, while tree-lined fairways give the round a strong sense of enclosure. The course is easy to walk but not easy to play carelessly: water and mature trees shape the preferred lines, and the approach into each green rewards a precise decision.
History: Golfclub Schloss Myllendonk was founded in 1965 by a small group of families and friends and has remained a private club. Donald Harradine created the original 18-hole course. Christoph Städler carried out a major upgrade around 2010-11, replacing two weaker par threes with new holes, improving the practice facilities and renovating tees, greens, bunkers and fairways.
Did You Know? The course’s clubhouse and terrace sit within the castle setting, while the River Niers’ drainage channels and tributaries influence the layout. The result is a round where the medieval estate and the hydrology of the Lower Rhine are both visible in the strategy of the holes.
