Overview: Golfclub Rhein-Main plays on the wooded and lightly hilly Rheinblick site above Wiesbaden. The 18-hole parkland layout is defined by mature trees, carefully framed fairways and greens that reward a controlled approach. Its elevated setting gives the course a distinctive relationship with the surrounding hills, while the routing remains practical and walkable. The character is traditional rather than theatrical: accuracy, thoughtful club selection and a good understanding of the angles matter more than trying to overpower every hole.
History: The course was built on a former US military training area. Dr. Bernhard von Limburger prepared the initial golf-course plan, and H.E. Gärtner led the landscape work. The US Air Force formally inaugurated the 18-hole Rheinblick Golf Course on 30 March 1957. In 1960, about 3,500 trees were planted, creating much of the wooded character seen today. The German Golfclub Rhein-Main was founded in 1977 and has played on the site ever since.
Did You Know? In its earliest years the site had very little woodland. The mass planting campaign of 1960 is why today’s round feels so different from the open, more exposed course described in the club’s early history.
