Overview: Golfclub Murhof is an 18-hole parkland in the Mur River valley at Frohnleiten north of Graz. Designed by Bernhard von Limburger, Tree-lined corridors, the Mur valley, and subtle water features give Murhof the measured rhythm of a classic parkland course.Murhof’s directory line is par 72 with about 6,918 yards, a competition length set within a mature valley landscape. The old trees provide definition without making every hole feel enclosed, and the course’s changing width rewards players who plan the second shot before choosing a tee line.
History: Murhof dates its golf history to 1963. Bernhard von Limburger established the original character, while the club records modernization and redesign under Michael Pinner from 1996 to 2000. Murhof’s later Pinner work is important because it explains the course’s current balance of traditional parkland lines and modern playing surfaces. The course is historic without being a museum piece.
Did You Know? Murhof has two design chapters: an older strategic framework and later Pinner refinement. Mature corridors and updated playing strategy coexist. Michael Pinner’s modernization ran for several years, so the course’s current feel reflects both the original Limburger framework and later refinement.
