Overview: Jakobsberg Golf Resort occupies a high, scenic position above the Rhine Valley near Boppard. The 18-hole course is framed by forests and vineyards, with long views towards the Rhine, Marksburg and the surrounding heights. Its design language is strategic and visual: fairway bunkers, water hazards and fast, undulating greens ask players to plan the hole before committing to the next shot. The site’s slopes make the round feel more varied than the scorecard alone suggests.
History: The official resort history records the course opening in 1994. It was designed on the model of Robert Trent Jones Jr. and realised by Wolfgang Jarsombek, whose work translated the American architect’s strategic ideas to the Rhine Valley landscape. Since opening, Jakobsberg has developed as part of a resort that combines golf with the historic setting of the former estate.
Did You Know? The course’s views reach across several distinct landscape zones at once: the Rhine corridor, the vineyards, the Marksburg and the wooded heights of the Westerwald, Hunsrück and Taunus. Few holes feel visually isolated from that broader valley setting.
