Overview: Golfclub Herzogswalde’s Parkland nine is the wooded half of an 18-hole combination west of Dresden, near Wilsdruff and the Tharandt Forest. The nine-hole Parkland routing is paired with the newer Herzogswalder Links nine, producing a mixed course of open, links-inspired ground and more enclosed parkland holes. Across the full combination the official course data records par 72 and about 6,883 yards. The Parkland side relies on trees, softer corridors and a different rhythm of approach shots from the windswept character of the Links side.
History: The original Parkland nine dates from the mid-1990s. Christian Althaus designed the added Links nine, which opened in 2018 and established the current 18-hole Herzogswalde combination. The club’s official material now presents the property as a 27-hole facility because a separate Little Links course sits alongside the two full nines. The available sources identify Althaus for the Links addition but do not establish a named architect for the older Parkland routing, so the profile keeps that distinction visible.
Did You Know? Herzogswalde changes character at the turn: one nine is deliberately shaped around a links vocabulary of open ground and pronounced bunkering, while the other moves through a more sheltered parkland landscape. That contrast is unusual within one 18-hole round and makes the course’s combined identity more than a simple front nine and back nine.
