Overview: Golfclub Heidelberg-Lobenfeld is set in the wooded hills east of Heidelberg, where the course follows the natural movement of the Kraichgau landscape. The parkland routing combines tree-lined corridors, open hillside views and a steady variety of lies. Its character is traditional and technical: the holes do not need theatrical hazards to create a demanding round, because the slopes, changing stances and carefully placed greens make positioning important from the opening tee.
History: The club began as a Heidelberg golf initiative in 1967. Bernhard von Limburger prepared the first concept, but after the original city site proved unsuitable, Donald Harradine produced the plan for Lobenfeld in 1970. Seven holes became playable in 1973, the first nine were formally inaugurated that May, and the expansion to 18 holes was completed in the following phase, with the club history recording the final completion in 1978. The club has remained closely linked to the wooded rural setting that made the relocation possible.
Did You Know? The original project was first called Golfclub Heidelberg-Drei Eichen, after the proposed city location. The present name records the decisive move to Lobenfeld, where the club found enough land to build a full 18-hole course.
