Golfclub Havelte

Overview: Havelte is a graceful 18-hole walk through one of the loveliest corners of Drenthe. The course mixes woodland corridors, open stretches and light undulation in a way that feels balanced and elegant rather than forced. There is little water, so the challenge comes more from shape, placement and the quiet pressure of the rough. It is classic, understated golf in a very calm setting. Following a major renovation in 2020, the course was extended to a par of 73.

History: Golfclub Havelte opened in August 1986, designed by Hans Hertzberger in collaboration with Donald Steel. The front nine plays over lightly undulating terrain with a coulissen landscape character, while the back nine has a more park-like feel. A comprehensive renovation in 2020 lengthened the course to par 73 and introduced distance markers on the tees, making Havelte the first course in the Netherlands to receive NGF certification based on those markers.

Did You Know? The club has over 700 members and welcomes visiting golfers. The 2020 renovation made Golfclub Havelte the first course in the country to be certified by the NGF on the basis of distance markers on the teeboxes.
