Overview: The Niedersachsen Course at Golf Club Hardenberg is a modern championship layout in the wooded and gently rolling landscape of Gut Levershausen near Northeim. David Krause’s design uses broad fairways, strategic water and large shaped greens to create a course that can be played in different ways from different tees. The scale is generous, but the best lines are rarely automatic: players must decide how much of the fairway to use and where the safest approach angle lies.
History: Hardenberg began as Golfclub Göttingen and grew into a 36-hole resort. The newer Niedersachsen Course was developed in stages, with the first nine holes opening in June 2003 and the complete 18-hole course opening in 2004. Krause’s design added a tournament-scale counterpart to the older Göttingen Course and helped establish Hardenberg as one of northern Germany’s leading golf destinations.
Did You Know? The island green on the 11th is shaped like the boar’s head from the Hardenberg family arms. The idea turns a local heraldic symbol into a playable feature and gives one of the course’s most photographed holes a direct connection to the estate’s history.
