Overview: The Göttingen Course is the older 18-hole layout at Golf Club Hardenberg, set in rolling, wooded country on Gut Levershausen. The course is a classic parkland test with old trees, broad fairways, slopes and water at key points. Its movement is cumulative rather than dramatic: the round repeatedly asks players to manage uphill and downhill lies, choose a sensible line and keep enough control for the next shot. The result is a demanding course with a strong sense of age and continuity.
History: The club was founded in 1969 as Golfclub Göttingen. Donald Harradine laid out the original nine holes, which entered play in 1971. Wolfgang Siegmann of Hanover designed the additional nine, completed in 1987, creating the 18-hole course now called Göttingen. The club adopted the Hardenberg name in 2001, while the course itself retained its connection with the university city.
Did You Know? Both the front and back nines begin with a par five. That unusual symmetry gives the course a distinctive opening rhythm and makes the first tee shot important twice: once at the start of the round and again after the turn.
