Overview: Golf Resort Františkovy Lázně, also known as Hazlov, is an 18-hole course set in the protected Ohře river basin near the West Bohemian spa towns. The layout moves through gently rolling ground, woodland and wetland areas, with pine, spruce and birch providing a natural frame. Water hazards and the course’s changing tree lines make accuracy more important than simply finding distance, and the setting feels established despite the course being a modern project.
History: The project began with land acquisition in 1998, followed by planning and construction of the full 18-hole course. The club’s official history records completion and opening on 10 August 2003, followed by a series of individual hole and green improvements. A larger redesign programme in 2021 updated irrigation, tees and bunkers while retaining the course’s woodland identity and its relationship with the surrounding nature reserve.
Did You Know? The official course information credits British designer Peter Walker and German designer Heinz Fehring with the 18-hole design. Františkovy Lázně is therefore a co-design rather than a course attributable to Fehring alone, and its location close to the German border gives it a distinctly cross-border West Bohemian setting.
