Overview: Rising from the historic peat estates of Erica, Golfbaan Zuid-Drenthe is a bold and atmospheric "Inland Links" that captures the rugged soul of the northern Netherlands. Designed by Michiel van der Vaart, the course is defined by its firm, fast-playing fairways, expansive water hazards (present on every single hole!), and sophisticated strategic puzzles that require a high degree of confidence and touch. With its par-72 championship layout and views of the distant Amsterdamsche Veld nature reserve, it provides a rhythmic and energetic brand of golf that prizes environmental stewardship, as reflected in its prestigious GEO certification.
Did You Know? The course was built on land that was formerly used for large-scale industrial peat extraction, a legacy that has given the fairways an unusually firm and sandy soil base for an inland layout. During its construction, the club worked to restore several "heritage marshes" on the property, which now support rare species of local peat-land flora and fauna, making it a masterpiece of ecological restoration as much as golf design.
