Overview: The d'Este Course is a premier 18-hole championship layout at the luxury Golf & Spa Resort Konopiště, located on the historic Tvoršovice estate near Prague. Designed by John Burns and opened in 2005, the course is a slightly hilly meadowland layout characterized by its expansive bunkering and strategic water hazards. It is a scenic and rigorous test of golf that winds through a mixture of open fairways and mature woodland, providing a high-fidelity resort experience in the heart of Bohemia.
History: The course is named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose residence was the neighboring Konopiště Castle. The resort was developed in the early 2000s to transform a historic hunting estate into a world-class golf destination. Following the success of the original Radecký course, the d'Este course was added to create a 36-hole complex that has since hosted numerous professional events and has become a cornerstone of the Czech golf scene.
Did You Know? The course's signature 9th hole features a dramatic island green located directly in front of the resort's luxury hotel terrace? With its blend of technical par-3s and long, river-influenced par-5s, the d'Este course offers a sophisticated and visually rewarding round that perfectly complements the historical and aristocratic atmosphere of the surrounding estate.
