Overview: At Golf Santander, Rees Jones's 18-hole parkland design occupies the former Ciudad Financiera site west of Madrid. Broad fairways, rolling ground, lakes, and wildlife habitat give the course a measured rhythm, with elevation and water placement influencing the preferred route to the greens.
History: Golf Santander opened in 2005 as part of the Banco Santander financial campus. Rees Jones was responsible for the course design, with Steve Weisser and Seve Ballesteros involved in the project team. The course remains associated with the bank community and controlled outside play.
Did You Know? The lakes and habitat areas were planned as part of the course landscape and create a green corridor within the financial campus. It is an unusual meeting of office architecture, rolling golf ground, and managed wildlife space.
