Overview: Golf Las Americas ~ Golf Las Americas is an 18-hole course in the centre of Playa de las Américas, one of Tenerife’s busiest golf-and-holiday districts. The course is arranged like a gently sloping amphitheatre facing the sea, with views toward La Gomera and a series of lakes, channels and streams adding both atmosphere and decisions. John Jacobs Associates Ltd designed the layout. The club’s current specification is par 72 and 6,051 metres, approximately 6,624 yards, from the published full course measurement.
History: The course was constructed in 1998 as part of the expansion of southern Tenerife’s golf tourism offer. Its compact location, nearby hotel infrastructure and year-round climate made it a natural fit for visitors who want golf within a resort town rather than a remote country setting. The design uses the amphitheatre landform to protect the course and to keep the ocean-facing outlook visible across the round.
Did You Know? Water is one of the layout’s defining design tools. It appears as lakes, drainage channels and crossing features rather than as a single isolated hazard, so the course’s relaxed holiday setting still asks players to choose when to attack and when to take the safer line.
