Overview: Golf & Countryclub Dachstein Tauern is an 18-hole mountain parkland at Haus im Ennstal beneath the Dachstein range. Designed by Bernhard Langer, Langer’s valley-floor design links broad scenery to shaped greens, water hazards, and changing views of the Dachstein range.Dachstein Tauern is a par-71 course of about 6,450 yards, yet its valley setting and water hazards create more variety than length alone suggests. The layout’s changes in scale are particularly effective: wide valley holes give way to more framed playing corridors before the Dachstein views return.
History: Construction began in the late 1980s and the course opened in September 1991. Official history records an 18-hole par-71 layout with 11 water hazards and Bernhard Langer’s design credit. Dachstein Tauern opened as part of the region’s modern golf development, and its September 1991 date remains the clearest reference for the current routing. Bernhard Langer’s authorship is consistently documented.
Did You Know? Club history records 11 water hazards. Several work as positional features rather than large lakes, spreading strategy across the round. Eleven water hazards are recorded in the club history, distributed through a mountain course that otherwise feels open and spacious.
