Overview: Located on a high, rolling plateau east of Zurich, Golf & Country Club Hittnau-Zürich is an 18-hole private parkland course designed by German architect Bernhard von Limburger. The layout is routed across a dramatic glacial moraine landscape, featuring significant elevation changes, natural streams, and mature woodlands. The course demands precise tee shot placement to navigate the rolling fairways and accurate iron play to reach well-defended green complexes.
History: Founded in 1965, Hittnau was created as a private sporting sanctuary for its members. Von Limburger, who was the dominant European golf architect of the post-war era, routed the holes to fit organically into the pre-existing glacial moraine topography, minimizing artificial land alteration. The course has hosted multiple national amateur championships.
Did You Know? On clear days, the course offers views of the Swiss Alps and the surrounding countryside. This alpine backdrop makes players feel far removed from the nearby city of Zurich, providing a tranquil and scenic round.
