Overview: Located in the quiet, wooded hills of the French Riviera near the picturesque village of Mougins, the Golf Country Club de Cannes-Mougins is a premier and highly exclusive parkland venue. Originally routed through a scenic river valley, the course is celebrated for its lush fairways, towering pines, ancient olive trees, and meticulously manicured greens that present a sophisticated and tranquil test of golf in one of France’s most glamorous regions.
History: Conceived in 1923 and opened in 1927, the course was originally designed by the legendary Harry Colt. After decades of serving as a luxurious sporting sanctuary, the layout underwent a major, high-profile redesign in 1978 by the renowned partnership of Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas. The course famously hosted the Cannes Open on the European Tour for fourteen years, welcoming champions like Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman.
Did You Know? Tom Mackenzie executed a comprehensive restoration of the greens and bunkers in 2015, restoring the vintage character of the Colt routing while updating the conditioning to absolute championship standards for its prestigious membership.
