Overview: Situated in the Mugello valley near Florence, Italy, Golf Club Poggio Dei Medici is an 18-hole championship parkland course designed by Alvise Rossi Fioravanti and Baldovino Dassù. Routed through the rolling Tuscan hills, the layout features significant elevation changes, wide fairways bordered by mature oak and cypress trees, and large, undulating green complexes. The course demands strategic positioning off the tee and precise approach shots to navigate the deep bunkers and natural ravines.
History: Opened in 1992, the course was built to establish a premier luxury tournament destination in Tuscany. The designers carefully routed the 18 holes to preserve the historic agricultural landscape, creating a world-class venue that hosted the Ladies Italian Open on the Ladies European Tour from 1999 to 2003, and multiple Challenge Tour events.
Did You Know? The course is set in the historic heartland of the powerful Medici family. The majestic 16th-century Villa di Cafaggiolo, an ancient Medici family estate and UNESCO World Heritage site, sits just a short distance from the property, providing a profound historic connection.
