Overview: Located in the Swiss Jura mountains near La Chaux-de-Fonds, Golf Club Les Bois is an 18-hole parkland course designed by British architect Jeremy Pern. Winding through alpine pastures, spruce forests, and dramatic mountain slopes, the course is highly exposed to alpine winds. The layout features significant elevation changes, requiring players to carefully adjust their shot distances and club selection to navigate the rolling mountain terrain.
History: Built in two phases, the first nine holes opened in 1995, and the full 18-hole course was completed in 1999 under Pern's direction. The routing was carefully planned to fit organically into the undulating Swiss pastures, minimizing artificial land alteration and preserving the natural water run-offs and local flora.
Did You Know? The course is located in a region famous for the Freiberger horse breed. Players can frequently spot horses grazing in the adjacent pastures that border the fairways, providing a charming and rustic alpine backdrop.
