Overview: The Arnold Palmer Course at Bad Saarow is an 18-hole American-style parkland layout in Brandenburg, set within the forested grounds of the Scharmützelsee resort. The club describes the course through its many trees, broad fairways and large greens, a combination that creates room from the tee but still demands accurate positioning into the putting surfaces. Water hazards and the wooded setting add definition to a relatively open resort experience, while the course remains playable for a wide range of golfers.
History: The Palmer Course was the first of the major 18-hole layouts developed at Bad Saarow and opened in 1995. It was designed by Arnold Palmer, with later additions completing the wider facility: the Faldo Course followed in 1996 and the Stan Eby Course in 2001. Bad Saarow now presents three 18-hole courses and a resort setting near Berlin, but the Palmer layout remains the original course and the one that established the golf destination.
Did You Know? Current tournament and course references list the Arnold Palmer layout at par 71, although older travel material and directory records have also shown par 72. The contemporary course descriptions emphasise a tree-lined parkland test, with broad fairways and large greens. That combination explains why the Palmer course can look inviting from the tee while still producing demanding approach shots and a serious back-nine examination.
