Overview: Golf Club Adriatic is the 18-hole PGA National Croatia course at Crveni Vrh near Savudrija and Umag, on the Istrian peninsula. The official course page lists par 72, 6,360 metres, approximately 6,955 yards, and a layout spread over 80 hectares. Diethard Fahrenleitner and Barbara Eisserer shaped the routing through Mediterranean vegetation, exposed rock, natural ponds and rolling ground, with the Adriatic Sea and coastal wind influencing how the course plays.
History: The course opened in 2009 as Croatia’s first 18-hole championship course on the Adriatic coast. Its designers received the Austrian Golf Art Landscape award for a project that was deliberately blended into the existing setting rather than imposed as a uniform resort layout. The PGA National Croatia identity reflects the course’s later role as a major championship and destination venue, while the nearby Kempinski resort helped establish the Crveni Vrh site as an international golf stop in Istria.
Did You Know? Every hole has five tee positions and a descriptive name tied to its setting. “Vineyard,” “Seaview,” “Olivetree” and “Romanic Church” are not generic labels: they point to the visual landmarks and landscape details that shape individual holes. The course’s coastal position also means that wind can change the value of its bunkers and green approaches from one round to the next.
