Overview: Located on the pristine coastline of El Toyo, just a stone’s throw from the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, Alborán Golf is a refined 18-hole championship layout designed by Ramón Espinosa. Since its inauguration in 2005, the course has become a vital fixture of Almería’s golfing scene, famously hosting the golf events for the 2005 Mediterranean Games. The par-72 course is characterized by its expansive, flat topography and its strategic use of 66 carefully placed bunkers and a network of streams and large lakes. Designed to be both an enjoyable round for amateurs and a formidable test for professionals, the 6,278-meter routing meanders through a semi-desert landscape where the cooling Mediterranean breeze and sea views are constant companions.
Did You Know? The course was a centerpiece of the sustainable urban development of El Toyo, designed to provide a world-class sporting legacy for the region while maintaining a harmonious balance with the nearby protected natural park. Its status as an open, accessible public venue makes it a favorite for "Discovery Almeria" golf tours, where players can experience a professional-grade competitive stage that famously served as the platform for some of the Mediterranean’s finest athletes during its debut year.
