Overview: Gold Mountain’s Olympic Course is an 18-hole municipal layout in Bremerton designed by John Harbottle III. The live course record lists par 72 and 7,179 yards, and the course combines tree-lined fairways with open sightlines from the tee, rolling ground, substantial mounding and large collection areas around the greens. It is the more elevated and demanding of the two Gold Mountain courses, yet the routing remains walkable enough to reward players who prefer to experience the changes in terrain at ground level.
History: Bremerton’s municipal golf story began in the late 1960s, when local golfers and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Golf Association urged the city to create a course on watershed land. The city introduced Cascade in 1971 and added the Olympic Course in 1996. Harbottle’s design gave the city a second championship-scale course and a setting capable of hosting major amateur and collegiate events without losing the wooded Northwest atmosphere of Gold Mountain.
Did You Know? The Olympic Course has hosted the 81st U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, the U.S. Junior Amateur and NCAA regional championships. Those events are part of the course’s identity, but the city-owned facility remains notable for giving public golf in Bremerton a championship stage.
