Overview: Glenmarie’s Valley Course provides 18 holes of par-72 championship golf in Shah Alam, Selangor. It is the longer and more demanding companion to the Garden Course, measuring 6,412 metres, or approximately 7,011 yards, from the championship tees. The current official guide emphasises water carries, sloping fairways, bunker clusters and elevated views. The par-three 8th is singled out for its panoramic setting, while the course’s undulating greens and changes in elevation make club selection important even when the scorecard distance looks manageable.
History: The two Glenmarie courses were developed on the former Glenmarie Rubber Estate and opened in the early 1990s, with the facility’s official opening recorded in January 1994. Max Wexler created the original 36-hole complex. The Valley was later redesigned by Australian architect Ted Parslow, a change that gave the course its current championship emphasis while retaining the wooded and water-rich character of the site. The adjoining hotel and practice facilities helped establish Glenmarie as a recognised golf base within the Klang Valley.
Did You Know? Glenmarie’s official turf notes distinguish the Valley from its companion course: the fairways use Bermuda Tifway 419 and the greens use Bermuda Miniverde. The eighth hole is described as one of the most scenic points on the layout, yet its tee shot still carries water and leads to a broad, undulating green. The course therefore makes its visual appeal part of the golfing decision rather than a backdrop separate from it.
