Overview: Glenmarie’s Garden Course routes 18 holes of par-72 resort golf through Shah Alam, within the wider Kuala Lumpur conurbation. The current official course page gives a length of 6,404 metres, or approximately 7,002 yards. Max Wexler’s design is presented through greenery and water rather than dramatic manufactured terrain: tree-lined corridors, lakes, landscaped planting and changing fairway lines create a pleasant but exacting round. The official hole guide shows the character clearly, from a downhill opening stretch to a lake crossing the 10th fairway and a peninsula green on the par-five 11th.
History: Glenmarie was developed on the former Glenmarie Rubber Estate as a 36-hole golf facility. Published course histories place the opening in 1993, with the official opening taking place in January 1994, so 1994 is used here as the course’s public-opening marker. Both the Garden and Valley courses were originally crafted by American architect Max Wexler. Glenmarie later became a hotel-linked golf destination, and the Garden Course formed part of the facility’s long-running role as a major golf venue in the Klang Valley.
Did You Know? The official guide gives the Garden Course a precise turf identity: Bermuda Tifway 419 on the fairways and Bermuda Tifdwarf on the greens. Its hole descriptions also show how water shapes the round. The 10th asks players to decide how to handle a lake crossing the fairway, while the 11th offers a possible long approach over water to a peninsula green. These are strategic features, not just scenery.
