Overview: Glenelg Golf Club is a historic Adelaide links on 49 hectares, where firm couch fairways, native vegetation, wetlands and revetted-edge bunkers give the course a distinctive South Australian texture. The men’s course is a par-71 layout of roughly 6,857 yards from the longest published equivalent.
History: Herbert “Cargie” Rymill designed the original course, which opened in 1927 and reached 18 holes the following year. Land resumption for Adelaide Airport led to Vern Morcom’s 1947 redesign, followed by a major 1998–2004 redevelopment led by Neil Crafter and Bob Tuohy.
Did You Know? Glenelg’s wetlands cover about 1.4 hectares and provide habitat for native frogs, turtles and birds, making the ecological system part of the course’s identity rather than decoration around it.
