Overview: Gillette Ridge is a public 18-hole Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay course in Bloomfield, Connecticut, built on the Cigna headquarters campus. At par 72, the profile reaches 7,112 yards. Streams, lakes, elevation changes and mature trees define the setting, while the layout uses carries, narrow corridors and varied natural obstacles to create a modern Palmer test. The course is also part of the site's history: its fairways and greens occupy a landscape that was planned as a broader corporate campus rather than as an isolated golf resort.
History: Cigna announced plans for the Bloomfield development in 1999, and the project was named Gillette Ridge in 2001. The course opened to the public on July 30, 2004. It later hosted the LPGA Futures Tour Cigna Golf Classic from 2005 through 2008 and PGA Tour Travelers Championship pre-qualifying events in 2011 and 2012. Those events established the course as a significant public venue soon after its opening.
Did You Know? Gillette Ridge takes its name from Francis Gillette, a nineteenth-century reformer, politician and local business figure. His house still stands on the property, so the course's name points to a person connected directly to the land beneath the layout.
