Overview: Located on the northern coast of Zealand, Denmark, Gilleleje Golfklub is an 18-hole parkland and woodland course. Carved through dense pine and spruce forests, the layout features tight, tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, and small, well-defended putting surfaces. The course demands precise ball placement off the tee and disciplined iron play to navigate the narrow forest corridors and numerous natural streams.
History: Founded in the 1970s, the course was built to establish a premier competitive venue in the North Zealand region. The layout was carefully integrated into the rugged terrain, minimizing earth movement to preserve the historic agricultural landscape. The club has hosted multiple Danish national amateur championships.
Did You Know? The course is built on a highly stable, well-draining sandy subsoil that ensures excellent natural drainage. This allows the fairways to remain incredibly firm and playable year-round, providing a high-quality, links-like firmness despite the dense surrounding forest canopy.
