Overview: Ghala Golf Club is Oman's oldest and most historic golf facility, originally founded as a sand course in 1971. Redesigned into an 18-hole grass layout by Bill Longmuir, the course is set within a natural wadi (dry riverbed) that carves through the Al Hajar mountain range. The layout is famous for its narrow, pressure-packed fairways and spectacular views from the elevated tees, providing a traditionally Omani desert-golf experience that relies on accuracy and strategic navigation of the natural mountain echoes and rocky valley escarpments.
Did You Know? The club maintains a very social and traditional atmosphere, having served as the host of the Oman National Championships and various MENA Tour events. Its 19th-hole terrace offers one of the best views in Muscat, perfectly positioned to watch fellow golfers navigate the finishing stretches of the 9th, 15th, and 18th holes as they return to the clubhouse at the base of the towering cliffs.
