Overview: Gateway Golf & Country Club, now presented as The Club at Gateway, is a private Tom Fazio course in Fort Myers. The 18-hole parkland layout reaches 6,981 yards from the back tees and plays to par 72, with generous fairways, Cape Cod-style bunkering, Bermuda greens, and water integrated into the design.
History: The course was built in 1988, with its first full season following in 1989. Its early reputation included a place on Golf Digest’s inaugural-season top-100 list, and the former Gateway name was later carried into the current Club at Gateway identity.
Did You Know? Gateway hosted the Ben Hogan Tour’s Gateway Open in 1990 and 1991, giving the Fort Myers course a short but notable place in the development history of professional golf’s modern developmental tours.
