Overview: Gary Player Country Club is an 18-hole walking course at Sun City in South Africa's North West Province. Gary Player designed the routing through the resort's bushveld setting, with broad fairways, water hazards and carefully protected greens creating a substantial par-72 test. The layout asks for disciplined positioning, particularly where water and bunkers narrow the preferred line into the closing holes.
History: Sun International records that the course was built as Sun City Resort was developed and dates its opening to 1979. The course has since become the long-term home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, formerly the Million Dollar Challenge. It remains a walking-only course, with no carts available according to the current operator information.
Did You Know? The course includes a five-kilometre running trail around its perimeter. That unusual pairing reflects the wider Sun City approach, where the golf course is part of a resort landscape used for several outdoor activities rather than an isolated club property.
