Overview: Fujioka Country Club is a Peter Thomson design in Toyota, Aichi, set among mature pine woodland and rolling hill ground. The current GDO course information lists 18 holes, par 72 and 6,835 yards, with a single bent green. The route uses fine changes in pitch rather than dramatic mountain elevation: fairways move across the natural contours, greens carry measured undulation and the water hazards are placed to influence the line of play. The outward nine is framed by woodland and individual hole shapes, while the inward nine is longer and makes distance control harder, particularly when the landing area or approach angle is not ideal.
History: Fujioka opened on 24 October 1971 and is credited to Peter Thomson. The current club record is important for the directory because it reconciles an older Left/Right naming split with the active course identity now published by GDO: one 18-hole course, one current bent-green record and no independently verified second routing. The design's enduring character remains tied to Thomson's use of the site's rolling ground, pine cover and carefully placed hazards rather than to a resort-style redevelopment story.
Did You Know? The official current hole chart makes the closing stretch unusually demanding on paper. The 16th is a 604-yard par five from the back tees, followed by a 403-yard par four at the 17th. That long-short sequence puts the emphasis on both power and exact approach distance before the final hole.
