Overview: Commanding a prime coastal position in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura Golf Club is a historic landmark as the island’s first 18-hole championship venue. Designed by Juan Catarineu and inaugurated in 2002, the course was masterfully engineered to accommodate the island’s characteristic Atlantic winds, featuring generous fairways up to 50 meters wide and expansive, receptive greens. The par-72 layout offers a stunning visual contrast between its lush, emerald-green fairways and the surrounding arid desert terrain. With its first ten holes running directly parallel to the sea, players are treated to constant panoramic vistas of the Atlantic, while three interconnected lakes and a meandering stream provide strategic water hazards that demand careful club selection.
Did You Know? The course firmly placed Fuerteventura on the global golfing map in 2004 when it hosted the Spanish Open, becoming the first venue on the island to hold a European Tour event. Integrated with the 5-star Elba Palace Golf & Vital Hotel, the resort offers a uniquely tranquil experience where the holes are so close to the shoreline that the sound of the ocean serves as the natural soundtrack to the round, perfectly encapsulating the rugged, volcanic charm of the Canary Islands.
