Overview: At Fuchu Country Club, the round unfolds through a parkland landscape that uses the rolling topography of Tama Hills south-west of central Tokyo, with a traditional parkland rhythm and enough changes in elevation to keep the approach angles alive. The club's current black tees measure 6,828 yards, while the shorter sets make the same routing more approachable.
History: Fuchu's recorded story starts with the 1959 opening. The club traces its decision to build the course to 1958, when land in the Tama area was secured and construction began to Seizo Tomizawa's design. Fuchu opened on 3 November 1959 and joined the Japanese and Kanto golf associations the following year. Recent work has included improvements to individual holes and a broader renovation of the outer loop, while the club continues to describe the layout as a strategic championship course.
Did You Know? The course's modern history includes a 2024 change to tee names and ratings, when the black, blue, white, gold and green sets were formalized. That gives a clear picture of how the same Tama Hills ground can be played at five very different scales.
