Overview: French Creek Golf Club is a private Gil Hanse course in Elverson, Pennsylvania, where rolling terrain, natural woodland and the French Creek watershed provide the setting. Hanse’s early design uses minimal earth disturbance and an old-world visual language across the 18-hole parkland routing.
History: The French Creek project began in 1993, Gil Hanse joined the project in 1999, and the first nine holes opened in 2003. The club describes the course as one of Hanse’s early solo designs and is planning a later masterplan by Hanse to update playability while retaining the original character.
Did You Know? The property’s history reaches beyond golf: the French Creek watershed was associated with George Washington’s Revolutionary War movements and the nearby Hopewell Furnace.
