Overview: Fred Enke Golf Course is a unique municipal desert layout in Tucson that offers a pure desert experience with a focus on natural preservation. Designed by Dick Phelps and Brad Benz and opened in 1983, the course was ahead of its time in its use of "limited turf" design to conserve water in the Sonoran Desert. The par-72 routing features wide-open desert vistas and large, hilly fairways that require strategic positioning to navigate the natural desert hazards. With its lack of residential development on the course itself, it provides a serene and focused golfing environment.
Did You Know? The course is named after Fred Enke, a legendary basketball and golf coach at the University of Arizona, who was a prominent figure in the Tucson sporting community for over three decades.
