Overview: Fox Chapel Golf Club is a Seth Raynor course in Pittsburgh whose wooded ground and classic green templates create a compact, strategic test. The layout uses familiar architectural ideas such as Redan and Biarritz forms, but the surrounding terrain and tree lines give each hole its own local expression.
History: The club was established in 1923, construction followed Raynor’s plans, and the 18-hole course opened on June 13, 1925. Later restoration work, including Tom Marzolf’s efforts, has aimed to recover the character of Raynor’s original design.
Did You Know? Fox Chapel hosted the 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open, adding a national championship to its long history as a Raynor course.
