Overview: Forest Highlands' Canyon Course sits among ponderosa pine and mountain terrain in Flagstaff, Arizona. Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish used the high-country setting to build a private course with open views, forested corridors, and changes in elevation that shape the approach strategy.
History: The Forest Highlands community was founded in 1987 and the Canyon Course opened in 1988. The course was developed with the Bailey-Bartlett Group and has since become the older of the community's two 18-hole layouts.
Did You Know? The Canyon Course has hosted the 1996 U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2006 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Those championships tested the course beyond its private-club setting and placed its mountain routing on the national calendar.
