Overview: Forest City’s Legacy Course stretches beside the Pulai River in Johor, offering 18 holes of par-72 resort golf. Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II designed the course across roughly 74 hectares, with wide undulating fairways, sculpted bunkers, large lakes and waste areas moving through mangrove-edge ground. From the black markers it stretches to 7,386 yards. Palm planting and pale waste sand give parts of the course a desert-like visual character, while the surrounding river and wetland landscape keep the setting distinctly Malaysian. Multiple tees provide a more approachable route for different levels of player.
History: The Legacy Course was the first of Forest City’s two current 18-hole layouts and was opened as part of the resort development in 2018. Nicklaus Design’s contemporary report identifies the collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II and describes the course as one of the anchors of the Forest City project. The second course, Liang Guokun’s Classic, followed in 2019. Together they form the resort’s 36-hole golf offering near the Singapore causeway.
Did You Know? The Legacy covers about 74 hectares and is planted with Paspalum Platinum turf, according to the resort’s current course page. Its design deliberately blends two visual ideas: mangrove and river-edge nature on one side, and palm-lined waste areas that resemble desert golf on the other. The wide fairways and multiple tee positions soften the first impression of a long championship layout, while the lakes and waste areas still reward a controlled line from the tee.
