Overview: The Mountain Course at FLC Quy Nhon Golf Links is a Schmidt-Curley layout on the elevated dunes above Nhon Ly in Vietnam’s Binh Dinh province. The 18-hole course is par 72 and plays about 7,000 yards from the longest listed tees. Sixteen of the holes have ocean views, but the routing is not a simple beach course: it sits higher on natural dunes and uses inland elevation, pine scrub, transitional bunker edges and flowing fairway contours to create its identity. The open setting leaves wind and ground movement in play from the first tee.
History: FLC Quy Nhon opened its 36-hole golf complex in 2016, with the Ocean and Mountain courses forming two distinct parts of the resort. Schmidt-Curley and Flagstick GCCM completed the Mountain Course in an unusually short construction program, moving from design to grassing in four months. The result was intended to feel natural on the existing dunes, with drainage, bunker transitions and surface flow treated as part of the architecture rather than afterthoughts.
Did You Know? The Mountain Course was built in only four months from the beginning of design to completion of grassing, according to Schmidt-Curley’s project record. The fast construction schedule did not mean a flat layout. The course sits high on natural dunes and gives ocean views from sixteen of its eighteen holes, making the surrounding coastal terrain the defining feature of the routing.
