Overview: FLC Golf Links Quang Binh Ocean Dunes is a coastal links routing along the Hai Ninh shoreline in central Vietnam. Brian Curley and Schmidt-Curley Design are credited with the course, and current records list the layout at 18 holes, par 72 and 7,123 yards from the black tees. Its landscape is built around contrast: white sand, emerald turf, casuarina pines, wetlands and blue water. The course is open in scale and strongly shaped by the coast, but it is not simply a beach course. Raised dune landforms, native vegetation and the nearby sea give different holes their own visual and strategic emphasis.
History: Ocean Dunes was the second completed course at the FLC Quang Binh development, following Forest Dunes. Architecture coverage records Ocean opening for play in 2019, while FLC describes the wider beach and golf resort as a major project that began in December 2017. The two 18-hole routings were conceived as part of a much larger coastal development, yet Ocean Dunes has its own identity as the course placed closer to the sea. Keeping it separate from Forest avoids turning a two-course destination into one generic listing.
Did You Know? Part of Ocean Dunes's dune network was created using material excavated from irrigation lakes. The design feature is documented as a man-made dune complex that includes important tees and greens, allowing the course to create elevation on an otherwise flatter coastal portion of the site. It is a clear example of construction being used to strengthen the natural sandy character rather than conceal it.
