Overview: At Villa Padierna in Benahavís, Flamingo Golf y Resort threads an 18-hole routing through the hill country behind Marbella. Antonio García Garrido designed a compact, carefully presented layout with Mediterranean planting, undulating greens and views toward the coast. The published championship specification is par 71 and 5,714 metres, or about 6,250 yards. Its resort setting and visitor access make it a practical Costa del Sol stop, but the course still rewards accurate approaches because the greens and surrounding shaping supply much of the examination.
History: Flamingos opened in 2001 and quickly became part of the professional tournament landscape. The course hosted the European Senior Tour from 2002 to 2004 and later welcomed the Ladies European Tour in 2010. That event history helps explain the course’s emphasis on presentation and strategic green complexes: it was built to work as both a resort experience and a serious tournament venue.
Did You Know? Flamingos is not simply named for a hotel theme. The course’s identity comes from its blend of mature landscaping, Mediterranean views and a relatively contained routing through the resort. The result is a round where visual polish and positional golf are closely linked.
