Overview: FireRock Country Club is a private Gary Panks design in Fountain Hills, where 18 holes carve through the ridges and recesses of the Sonoran foothills. Current course information lists par 72 and 7,014 yards, with dramatic elevation changes, mountain views and a layout that rewards precision without making conservative play feel timid. The course moves through natural rises and valleys rather than sitting on a flat desert platform, so every turn changes the perspective and often the angle into the next green. Its location between Scottsdale and the Superstition Mountains makes it part of the wider Phoenix golf-travel landscape, although daily play is reserved for the club environment.
History: FireRock was founded in 1999 as the heart of a residential community, with the club’s current history describing the golf legacy as established around 2000. In 2013, ownership passed to an investor group drawn from the club community, and the course has since been supported by a large reinvestment programme. The current club is introducing Stadium Zoysia throughout the playing surfaces, aiming for firm, consistent year-round conditions with less overseeding downtime. That work is a major new chapter, but it follows Panks’ original idea of fitting the holes into the foothills.
Did You Know? FireRock says it is the first course in Arizona to use Stadium Zoysia across the full layout. The turf decision is presented as both a playing-surface improvement and a water and maintenance change for the Sonoran climate.
