Overview: Finley Golf Club is the University of North Carolina's public golf facility in Chapel Hill. Its current course identity is strongly tied to the 2023 renovation led by Davis Love III, Mark Love and Scot Sherman, which reshaped the playing surfaces and practice facilities while retaining the value of the older routing.
History: Finley began as an older UNC course and underwent a year-long overhaul that reopened in October 2023. UNC's account describes new holes, changed tees and bunkers, and a renewed facility for the university's men's and women's golf programs. The current 18-hole profile therefore includes both the older course history and the new work.
Did You Know? Davis Love III played Finley while he was an All-American at UNC in the 1980s before helping renovate it decades later. That personal connection is documented by UNC and explains why his name is central to the modern course identity.
