Overview: Ferrum Club Urban Fairway is an 18-hole public course in Yeoju, Gyeonggi, with par 72 and a published design length of 6,571 metres, approximately 7,187 yards. Orange Golf Design describes a setting of rolling mountain forms, quiet forest and clear valleys, and the course is laid out to preserve that natural character rather than flattening it into a uniform resort landscape. The design credit belongs to Cynthia Dye McGarey and Kim Myong-gil. Its tournament-standard presentation, bent-grass greens and zoysia fairways support a precise style of play, while the surrounding wooded terrain keeps the round visually varied from hole to hole.
History: Ferrum opened in 2014 and was originally established as a private member's facility by Dongkuk Steel Mill Company. Following a change in ownership, the club moved to pay-and-play operation, giving it a different public role while retaining the course's original standard and identity. The name Ferrum comes from the Latin word for iron, a reference to the steel company's business. The club's clubhouse has its own architectural history: Tadao Ando designed the building, but that credit is kept separate from the golf-course design by Cynthia Dye McGarey and Kim Myong-gil.
Did You Know? Ferrum's Latin name links the golf destination directly to the steel company that established it. The connection is also visible in the clubhouse story, where Tadao Ando used a circular form and a minimalist approach to create a building that contrasts with the organic mountain setting.
